Meet the Volta Roofing Team
Jerry Courson
General Manager
Jerry Courson, General Manager of Volta Roofing LLC comes from a family with a long history of self-employed entrepreneurs. At the age of 16, Jerry started working summers for a tear-off and clean-up roofing crew, where he grew a desire to pursue further into the roofing industry. The following summers, Jerry grew his knowledge of roofing as he was learning firsthand the skills and tricks of the trade. These summers built up Jerry's entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to take this knowledge and skills and put them towards something that would allow him to provide well for his family and create something he could leave as a legacy for his children.
For 14 years, Jerry worked as majority owner of the original Premier Siding, Roofing, Home Improvement of KC before partnering with Ian Fess in 2019 to bring about Volta Roofing. Jerry strives to lead and work from a place of integrity and to educate his staff as well as customers to ensure that Volta Roofing is the roofing company his communities can trust.
Ian Fess
Owner
Ian Fess, Owner of Volta Roofing LLC, began working on a residential shingle crew in 1987 at the age of 19. Ian worked his way up from a day laborer to installer and foreman to owning his own business, 1st Choice Roofing Company in Cleveland, OH, starting in 2006. Over the years, the Cleveland business has grown to employ 40 full-time employees servicing the residential and commercial roofing market. Ian also has a background in home building, renovation, and real estate investments.
In 2019 Ian was looking for additional opportunities and decided to open Volta Roofing LLC in Kansas City, MO. With General Manager Jerry Courson running the daily operations, the Volta team decided to build a company focused on customer service and integrity.
Ian is a graduate of New York University School of Construction Management and a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.
